  • Is there rent control in the City?

No, there is no rent control in the City of Calabasas. However, in 2004, the City Council initiated a Rental Registration Program requiring property owners of four or more residential rental properties to register their rental properties with the City of Calabasas Community Development Department and report the rental rates for each unit annually. The Program also requires that the property owner/agent provide a minimum of a 60 day notice to the City whenever the rental rate for a registered unit is increased 5% or greater than the amount charged to the same tenant during the 12 months prior to the effective date of the rental rate increase. Community Development Department staff monitor the reported rents and provide an annual summary of the findings to the City Council.
