What is Clean Power Alliance (CPA)?

Clean Power Alliance is a publicly owned and community-driven electricity provider bringing clean and renewable energy to your home. It is run by a Board of Directors that’s comprised of an elected official from each member agency, including one Councilmember from the City of Calabasas. CPA allows our residents a choice in how much of their household electricity is generated from clean and renewable energy sources. The Lean Power tier provides 40% renewable power, while the Clean Power tier provides power from 50% renewable sources. Customers enrolled in the 100% Green Power tier will have 100% of their household energy generated from renewable sources.

What type of power does CPA buy?

CPA does not purchase electricity from fossil fuel or nuclear power sources. Instead, power is purchased from clean and renewable resources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power.

Does the City of Calabasas decide the amount of clean power for all its residents?

Yes, the City of Calabasas sets the Default Rate of renewable electricity generated for its residents.  Starting October 1, 2021, the Calabasas Default Rate rises from the current CPA 40% Lean Power tier to the CPA 100% Green Power tier.  Unless residents opt-out (details below), this change automatically enrolls all Calabasas CPA customers in the highest renewable energy tier at an additional cost of approximately $2-$8 per month.

Enrolling in the 100% Green Power tier is too expensive for me, what can I do?

CPA has established several bill assistance programs for eligible customers; please visit CPA to learn more and see if you qualify. Customers may also opt down to a lower rate tier (40% or 50%) or opt out of CPA completely and choose to have SCE as your service provider. You can make this change at any time by notifying CPA online or by calling toll free at 888-585-3788.

I am a CPA customer, so why do I still get bills from Edison?

Even though CPA purchases clean power on your behalf, SCE continues to send your utility bill, deliver your electricity, provide maintenance services, and resolve any service issues.

Who can I contact if I have questions?
