Special Inspection Program

ICC Ventura Chapter logoSections 1704 through 1709 of the California Building Code provide the minimum technical requirements related to special inspections. The City of Calabasas has established policies and procedures for the administration of these technical requirements, which are based upon the unified effort of many building officials and the ICC Los Angeles Basin Chapter and the ICC Ventura Region Chapter Model Special Inspection Programs.

The primary goal of the Calabasas Building and Safety Division is to promote and maintain public safety and a healthy environment through reasonable enforcement of our adopted codes and ordinances. This Special Inspection Program ultimately has the same long-range goals, but the underlying mission is to help remove obstacles that may challenge special inspectors who work throughout our region.

ICC LA Basin Chapter logoBoth the Calabasas and Ventura programs strive for success in a myriad of facets, but primarily the program’s “roster” of registered special inspectors, with the appropriate certifications and experience, and the administrative processes of the program provide inspectors, design licensed professionals, developers, and contractors in our vicinity a one-stop source of information that includes universal forms and procedures.

All special inspectors working in the City of Calabasas will be expected to maintain an exceptional level of professionalism. Part of this professionalism is the inspector’s duties and responsibilities to the Building Official, project owner, engineer, and or architect.
