In the event a quorum of the Environmental Commission loses electrical power or suffers an internet connection outage not corrected within 15 minutes, the meeting will be adjourned.  Any items noticed as public hearings will be continued to the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Environmental Commission. Any other agenda items the Commission has not taken action on will be placed on a future agenda.

MISSION STATEMENT

“The mission of the Environmental Commission of the City of Calabasas is to advise the City Council regarding the stewardship of our environment as it affects the character of the Community and quality of life of our residents.  We strive to balance those elements that influence the degree to which our community sustains its social, economic and physical environment while maintaining and enhancing our natural and cultural resources”.

ORAL COMMUNICATION - PUBLIC COMMENT

Citizens wishing to address the Commission on any matter not on the agenda may do so at this time.  Speakers are requested to print their names and address on the form provided.  If you wish to be heard on a listed agenda item, please wait until that point on the agenda.  Please keep your comments to three (3) minutes.  Under the provisions of the California Government Code, the Commission is prohibited from discussing or taking action on any unagendaized item unless it can be determined to be of an emergency nature, or the need to take action arose after the posting of the agenda.

City Council Expectations for Commission Participation in the Strategic Planning Process, presentation by Michael McConville, City’s Senior Management Analyst (15 minutes)

3. Discussion on City Council’s 02/16/2022 Workshop on Proposed Environmental Initiatives (45 minutes):

a. Identify potential real property acquisitions for the purposes of future parkland or open space designation

b. Update CMC 17.34 to either current LEED or California Green Building Code standards

c. 
Educate residents of State's new food waste requirements through informational campaigns. Work with WM to coordinate waste programs for residents

d. 
Hire a consultant to coordinate the development of a Climate Action Plan

e. 
Develop a Water Resilience Plan outlining strategies to increase the City's drought preparedness , local water self-reliance, and planting of native vegetation (including milkweed for Monarch Butterfly habitats)
