Water Based Paint and Used Oil Round-Up

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

WHO CAN COME?
The Roundup is open to all residents of Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, and Malibu.

WHAT TO BRING:
Motor oil, oil filters, anti-freeze, latex paint, car batteries. Waste from businesses will NOT be accepted.

WHAT NOT TO BRING:
Oil-based paint, stains, pool and garden chemicals, pesticides, fertilizers, unused pharmaceuticals, mercury thermometers, fluorescent light bulbs, batteries, cleaning products.

HOW TO PREPARE:
In general the limit is 15 gallons or 125 pounds per vehicle. Do not mix products together.

 

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Collect used oil, oil filters, anti-freeze, latex paint, and car batteries for FREE. Maximum amount accepted is 15 gallons or 125 pounds total.
  • You must take your empty containers back with you.
  • Do not bring waste from business
  • Do not bring explosives, ammunition or radioactive materials!!
  • Keep waste in original containers. Make sure they are not leaking.
  • Do not mix products together!
  • Collection will be cancelled in the event of rain.

WHAT IS A HAZARDOUS WASTE PRODUCT?

A product that exhibits one or more of the following characteristics:

CORROSIVE
Substance or vapor that can cause irreversible damage to the skin or other material.

FLAMMABLE
Substance that will easily ignite at almost any temperature.

REACTIVE
Substance that gives off toxic vapors or explodes when combined with air, water, or another product.
Substance that may poison, injure or cause death when eaten, inhaled or absorbed through the skin.

TOXIC
Substance that may poison, injure or cause death when eaten, inhaled or absorbed through the skin
 

HOW TO DISPOSE OF OTHER HAZARDOUS WASTE ITEMS

OIL-BASED PAINT, SOLVENTS, AND POOL & GARDEN CHEMICALS, CLEANING PRODUCTS, CFL, BATTERIES, MEDICAL SHARPS & E-WASTE

PHARMACEUTICAL
No Drugs Down the Drain. Do not flush unused, unwanted, and expired medications down the toilet or put them in drains. The following locations accept pharmaceutical waste: S.A.F.E Centers

WATER-BASED PAINT
California residents and businesses can now recycle leftover paint for free at local retail stores.  For program details and locations, visit www.paintcare.org or call   855-724-6809.

HOW TO REDUCE YOUR HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTES AT HOME

PURCHASE only what you need. Natural food stores in your area may carry safer environmental friendly alternatives to commonly used hazardous products.
USE only as directed and do not mix chemicals together.
DON’T smell products to identify them.
STORE in original containers in a cool dry place.
DISPOSE of HHW where it was purchased or at a local round-up.
