Savvy Seniors
Calabasas Savvy Seniors/50+ is an ongoing program consisting of classes, excursions, special events, lectures and luncheons for senior women and men within the City of Calabasas

Recreational Senior Classes
Winter 2018

Canoga Park Senior Citizen Center
Neighborhood senior center offering a wide variety of recreational, educational, and exercise  classes and activities.  Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

ENCORE - Pierce College
ENCORE is a Pierce College program designed specifically for mature adults in the community. ENCORE offers free non-credit classes and fee- based not-for-credit classes. Classes range from arts and humanities, health and fitness, to finance and technology.

West Hills Hospital
Provides senior recreational activities, trips, health seminars, exercise classes, and trips.



California Department of Rehabilitation
Free employment services for disabled seniors who want to work or volunteer. Offers free adaptive visual aids to help maintain independence.

Volunteer Los Angeles
Provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems.



U.S. Social Security Administration
Information about retirement, survivors, disability, Supplement Security Income (SSI) and Medicare. Open Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Except during federal holidays.

Information and referrals about Alzheimer’s and dementia, training for caregivers, caregiver support groups, respite for caregivers, caregiver and care recipient consultations and mental health services.

Canoga Park Senior Citizen Center
Provides hot lunches to older adults Monday through Friday at 11:45 AM. Suggested donation $2 per meal.

Valley Interfaith Council
Provides senior meals program.  Meals delivered to the homes of seniors or disabled adults. Serves all of the West Valley.  Suggested donation.

West Valley Food Pantry
Provides emergency food to the needy and homeless in the area. Operates 5 days a week (Mon – Thurs: 10 AM to 3 PM and Friday: 10 AM to Noon). A federally funded “food bank” for low-income seniors is held the first Wednesday of every month from 9 AM to 11 AM. Seniors registered as Pantry clients are also eligible for a regular food pantry package.



Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program (DDTP)
Provides free adaptive telephones for people with vision or hearing difficulty.  Provides telephones
with large numbers, Braille keys, flashing lights, and TTY’s.

Grandparents As Parents (GAP)
Serves relative caregivers in the L.A. County area who are raising children.

The Compassionate Friends
Free support groups for people who have lost a child, sibling or grandchild. Spanish-speaking groups available

VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System
Provides health and social services to the aging veteran population using an interdisciplinary team approach.



The Calabasas Dial-A-Ride program provides limited number of trips for Calabasas residents who qualify as riders.

Access LA
Curb-to-curb shared ride service for people unable to use the regular bus or light rail services.

LADOT Transit Services
A paratransit service and transportation subsidy program for qualified seniors and individuals with disabilities. Provides subsidized taxi rides and Dial-A-Ride services through membership with the Cityride program.  Dial- A-Ride operates round-trip, curb-to-curb van service from the caller’s home to the destination. Must be over age 65.
