FOR MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL
JODY THOMAS Age: 49
As a candidate to represent you on City Council, I intend
to bring Calabasas to the forefront of Communities
where residents are respected, businesses are nurtured,
and open spaces preserved.
I have a long history in our community, have raised my
family and made Calabasas my home for more than
twenty years. My daughter was educated in the LVUSD
and is currently attending Cornell University.
Calabasas is an incredible city that needs to protect its
uniqueness and strategically plan for its future. The
services we value, from our senior services to our
distinguished schools, need money to keep them going
and improving. The city must set its financial house in
order if we are to ensure these programs will be here for
years to come.
I am President of the Old Topanga Homeowners, have
served on the Calabasas Environmental Standards
Committee, the Old Topanga Overlay Committee, the
Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation and have been a
tireless volunteer for numerous school and Community
activities. I recently led the campaign to rescind the
City's OWTS (Septic System) Ordinance and was
instrumental in the abandonment of the sewer extension
that threatened the Scenic Corridor and would have
unnecessarily cost Calabasas taxpayers millions.
As author of the Calabasas RIGHT TO VOTE and the
Calabasas TERM LIMITS initiatives, it is my goal to
promote more opportunities for residents from
throughout the City to participate in our local government,
while putting an end to the Cronyism and back room
dealings that are currently commonplace at City Hall.
It is my pledge to conduct the City's business with
professionalism and to embrace the diverse views and
concerns of all. I know the future for our city is great, and
together, we can make sure Calabasas is a place where
families, both young and old, are proud to call "home."
