COMMITTEE PROFILE |
|
The committee is comprised of a parks and
recreation commissioner, a planning commissioner appointed and one at-large
member appointed by the City Council. This committee provides general oversight
of the art in public places program, its projects, the sites, scope of project,
artworks, and artists to be selected. The Committee meets on an as needed basis
to review and make a recommendation to the City Council on proposed art pieces
prior to approval of occupancy by the building and safety division.
The Committee’s goal is to foster the creation and
placement of enduring original artworks of the highest quality and craftsmanship
throughout the City. Pieces should engage one's mind and senses while enhancing
and enriching the quality of life for residents. When incorporated into
projects, the Committee strives to integrate them into the architecture or
landscaping at a scale proportional to the scale of the development. |
